This traditional Russian tomato variety immediately became a gardener's favorite because it is productive, tasty and ideal for harvesting during the winter.
The variety is now a quarter of a century old and was included in the registry in 2000.

Description of tomato De Barao
The classic De Barao tomato is an indeterminate variety, that is, tall and with unlimited growth. It can reach a height of 2.5 m and even more, so it needs a garter, timely removal of stepsons and proper formation of bushes – only in this case will it produce a full harvest.
De Barao's fruits are smooth, ovoid, weighing 30 g. The color is red. The taste is excellent. The yield also did not disappoint – 5 – 6 kg per 1 sq. m. This variety is good because tomatoes can be eaten fresh and also used for preservation.
The variety is late-ripening, ripens in 115–120 days. It can be grown both in greenhouses and in open ground.

De Barao has several varieties that differ in the color of the fruit and some other characteristics.
Tomato De Barao black
Its fruits are purple-brown in color and slightly larger – 58 g. The taste is good. The yield is higher than that of the classic De Barao – up to 8 kg per 1 sq. m. It is also weakly affected by late blight.
Late-ripening variety, the harvest ripens in 115 – 130 days.

Tomato De Barao pink
The fruits are pink when fully ripe. Weight of tomatoes – 50 – 70 g. Taste is good. The yield is almost the same as that of the classic De Barao – 5.4 – 6.8 kg per 1 sq. m.
The variety is late-ripening, ripens in 117 days.

Tomato De Barao red
This is what the classic De Barao is called, so as not to be confused with other varieties. The original name of the variety does not contain the word “red”.
Tomato de Barao royal
The color of this variety is classic, red. And it was called royal because of the size of the fruits – they reach 150 g. They have a good taste. Productivity is excellent, up to 11 kg per 1 sq. m.
Mid-season, ripens in 110 days.

Tomato De Barao giant
Its fruits are red, but they are larger than those of other varieties of De Barao – 150 – 300 g. That is why it was called a giant. They are very tasty, juicy and meaty. Productivity – 5 – 6 kg per 1 sq. m.
Medium late, ripens in 120 days.
Tomato De Barao golden
Its fruits are yellow, weighing 79–83 g, and have good taste. The yield is very good – 6.2 – 6.4 kg per 1 sq. m.

This variety has orange-colored fruits. Small – weighing 65 g. But the yield of this De Barao is very decent – 8 kg per 1 sq. m. And it is also weakly affected by late blight
