A green, dense and lush grass is a true decoration of any garden, being a perfect background for planted plants. The renewal of the lawn. Unfortunately, getting a beautiful lawn is extremely difficult, because weeds or cavities often appear on it, which disfigure and cause a lot of trouble for gardeners.
Self-compacting grass can be a solution, making it easier to renew your lawn and allowing you to easily set up a new lawn. How to regenerate your grass and why choose an original self-compacting grass?
Why is it worth choosing a self-compacting lawn for renovation?
Self-compacting grass allows you to quickly replenish losses in your lawn. As a result, the grass is completely covered, dense and strong, so it looks very good. In addition, it prevents weeds from growing as it does not leave space for them. The great advantage of self-compacting grass is also its faster growth and its spectacular green color. All you need to do is sow your lawn once to enjoy a beautiful lawn for many years.
Advantages of self-compacting grass
- Seeds germinate quickly, even at low temperatures.
- The grass quickly forms an intense green, dense and compact lawn.
- The blades are resistant to damage: trampling and heavy use.
- Grass regenerates quickly (branches) after being damaged.
- The grass perfectly covers free surfaces and cavities, thanks to the runners.
- Grass is much more resistant to frost and fungal diseases.
- It can be mowed much lower, thanks to the low internodes.
- Dense grass forms a natural barrier against moss and weeds.
Just sow the seeds once and they will have a lasting effect for years!
Original self-compacting renewal lawn
Self-compacting grass is a seed mixture that, in addition to the best grass varieties (perennial ryegrass, red fescue, meadow grass), also contains the innovative RPR grass (Regenerating Perennial Ryegrass), i.e. Self-Regenerating Perennial Ryegrass.
How does self-compacting grass grow?
When sowing ordinary grasses, a plant grows from a seed to form a clump. Over time, the grass becomes longer and denser, but it does not increase significantly in volume, so it does not grow sideways. The self-compacting grass grows the same up to this point, but then stolons (rhizomes) sprout, from which more tufts of grass grow. Furthermore, the process continues without interruption, and the new beds constantly replenish the losses and make the grass dense, strong and as beautiful green as in the best field.
Self-compacting grass quickly grows above the cavities, forming a dense, natural network of self-growing rhizomes, from which new clumps of grass grow. It is perfect for regenerating damaged grass, seeding and filling in empty spaces, as well as replanting grass.
You will see why self-compacting grass provides a long-lasting effect! Find out what its unique characteristic is: sideways growth by rhizomes. See the difference between self-compacting grass and regular grass that grows and compacts.
Which renovation grass to choose?
Self-compacting grasses are innovative seeds that were introduced in 2019 and immediately became a bestseller. They have been the best sellers in garden stores for several seasons. Positive opinions of gardeners testify to the high quality of the seeds and confirm that they grow well.
The secret to the mixes is an innovative new variety of running ryegrass (better known in the industry as Lolium perenne stoloniferum – RPR® ryegrass). Until recently, mixtures with this variety of ryegrass were very expensive and were only used on professional soccer fields and golf courses or soccer fields. Today they are available to all gardeners and gardeners!

Lawn renovation
What is lawn renewal?
If your lawn has bare spots, remove dead grass, replace some of the soil with new soil, and level it well. Then plant a special regenerative seed mix. And if the grass is weak and sparse, sow grass seed over the entire surface.
Self-compacting effect
What is the self-compacting effect?
The seeds of self-compacting grass germinate quickly and the clumps grow intensely, covering free areas and cavities, creating a compact and dense lawn. From a sown seed, not only a tuft of grass grows, but also rhizomes growing on the sides, from which new tufts of grass grow. The process will continue until every free surface, damage or loss on the lawn is covered.
Step by Step
Spring Lawn Renewal
Spring is the perfect time to do a lot of garden work and prepare plants for the upcoming season. It is also the right time to renew the lawn, that is, to repair all the damage and losses that occurred during the previous season. Don't wait too long to do your gardening work. If you want your lawn to quickly return to last season's splendor, it's best to start now. By following our recommendations, you will regenerate it quickly and permanently! You will be surprised, but with just 6 steps you will significantly improve its appearance and condition! See our step-by-step guide.
1. Organize and shorten the lawn
First of all, clean the entire surface of the lawn: remove plant debris, for example branches, sticks and leaves. Check your lawn for weeds, if so, remove them with a hand weeder. Next, shorten the grass by 1/3 of its length, which will make subsequent treatments easier. Furthermore, it will ensure better growth and faster recovery.
3. Eliminate moss and mold
Scarification, that is, cutting the grass with metal blades, will provide the soil with better access to light, air and water, which will positively affect the growth of the grass. This also removes moss, mold and dead leaves that make up the felt. After thorough raking, the appearance of the lawn will immediately improve. It is best to use a strong metal rake, scarifier, or mechanical scarifier.
4. Aerate the substrate
Drill the soil every few centimeters to a depth of 10-15 cm to ensure better water infiltration, aeration and allow the root system to grow stronger. This will also ensure better penetration of nutrients into the soil from the fertilizers used. You can use a fork or a special aerator for aeration. After this treatment, it is worth watering the lawn to hydrate the soil well.
5. Sow the seeds
Get rid of dead grass, and if there are large cavities, mix the substrate with fresh soil and plant grass over them. Replacing the cavities will improve the appearance of the lawn and reduce weed growth. It is worth using self-compacting grass for this, which will compact the lawn beautifully. Sprinkle 20-30 g/m2 evenly over the entire surface of the cavities. You can also compact the grass by sowing 5-10 g/m2 of seed, depending on the condition of the grass.
6. Water and energy
After sowing the seeds, make sure the substrate is well moistened. This is especially important during plant germination, because then they need the most water. At the same time, the water should not be allowed to stand still. After a few weeks after sowing, it is worth additionally feeding the substrate with natural or mineral fertilizers.
